Over 20 years we had contracts with 20+ companies to build MRAPs for use exclusively in the Middle East that we never intended to keep in our inventory. We chose 2 main designs of the 20+ to keep a few thousand for each division and the rest we never intended to keep. Same with the helicopters. The Blackhawks and other aircraft we left were old, outdated models we haven't used in our inventory in decades. None of this stuff was state of the art new aircraft. More importantly what you are saying is that we should have stolen property that belonged and still does belong to the legitimate Afghanistan government that is still fighting to take back the country. Equipment they bought and payed for. Also trump never agreed to a full pullout of troops, he agreed to reduced numbers and only if his terms were met by the Taliban, Trump unlike biden and many idiots in America knew the difference between a nation building operation which we hadn't been doing since 2014 and leaving a permanent peacekeeping force to train and do small amounts of counterterrorism operations with special operations units. All of which we had been doing for years already. Stop bitching and trying to get your 2¢ in about shit you don't understand and doesn't concern you. Ya it's dumb that the Taliban now has a lot of this equipment, but for one, it's not that state of the art in comparison to our equipment, it's hand me down humvees that are easy to destroy with an rpg and a few of our lowest quality MRAPs that never left the bases abs were used exclusively for base security missions. And for two, these vehicles are not going to last them long at all, especially if they continue to hold parades. These vehicles require a lot of maintenance from trained mechanics and special orders of replacement parts that are only available in the US on top of that, the MRAPs require special fuel to run properly, they will destroy the engine that they can't just replace with a cheap Afghan one or a Chinese or Russian crap. People need to seriously stop acting like they are experts on this stuff when y'all don't have a basic understanding of the actual situation. 1 like
