... An old Alaska pilot introduced me to the Sportsmen's STOL wing. He was based on Lake Clark (or Lake Iliamna?) and had to circle up to get over a mountain before flying direct to Anchorage. After acquiring a Sportsmen's STOL cuff on his 182, it would fly straight over that same mountain with no circling needed. I had one installed on my 172. It's the gray colored cuff on the leading edge (see last pic). He told me not to tell the kids about it or they'd be trying to "fly the wing". Instead he said keep it quiet and it would save their bacon and they'd not know it did. A friend made that video of straight and level flight with no airspeed showing ... you can hear the stall horn going off. You now know what I know 🛫 ML P.S. Todd Hodnett's son Colby Hodnett has become a dealer/installer.

genrodes Love reading your flying stories. My father taught pilots how to fly B-25s during WW II and then my brothers and me during our high school/college years. Some of our best memories with him were in the air. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to remember the times we spent together. 1 like
joewarner6336 Really should be standard on all C172-182 as well as seat leashes. 1 like

perez2021juan It's like removing the Restrictor Plate but for an airplane. Very cool!
aswarmofwolves_ That's crazy.
mikeb945 Look very similar to the droop tips that our chief pilot had on his super cub. He also had a climb prop and I think an extra bay in each wing along with centerline wheels with drag racing slicks on it. You could just about get out and run as fast as that plane but you could land it anywhere
stevensarmiento6 No more accuracy special?if yes that sucks but I am very happy I got one.Was planning on getting another. Thanks for making the upper. It's great!
jdg0707 Looks like a really nice plane. Please be careful!
