tacticalslings Man I shoot one round then clean for five. Then twenty rounds and clean. Then shoot crap out of it. I used to do the typical BR break in but see no difference between two. Now when groups start getting weird I use JB Bore compound paying special attention to throat area to smooth it all up
csolstice032018 Lothar Walther CM 1/8 hand lapped CM. He said it was his choice for all of 264/6.5 builds. He also recommended I try Iosso bore paste on a patch wrapped around a nylon brush attached to a carbon fiber cleaning rod. I'm following his break in procedure.
silverback.guerilla Mark, what mag are you using for the 22-250?
joseph5myers I am very happy that you started making longer barrels! I don't run around with my rifles doing tacticool stuff so a 26 inch barrel is my favorite length. Milk whatever round you are shooting for max possible velocity. Makes longer ranges easier! As good as every barrel is that I have gotten from you I am really looking forward to getting a Siete with a of interchangeable barrels. If you chamber any barrels in 22 Creedmoor a 1 in 8 twist would be awesome with 80 - 90 grain bullets for long range and I think 60gr Vmaxs would stay together if prairie dogs and rock chucks were on the menu. 1 like
netaudiowf When you're doing sample proofs, are you doing the barrel break-ins before or just grabbing a random rife off the rack?
jmguill22 Amen👏👏👏👏
csolstice032018 David Sams is my gunsmith in VA. He is retired from the AMU. He just built me a .260 off of my old stand by model 7. His break in instructions are as follows. Shoot 1 round and clean for five rounds, shoot two rounds and clean- repeat five times. Shoot five rounds and clean and repeat five times. It's getting easier to clean and so far looks like it's going to shoot in the 2's with eld match. 1 like
