... Uncle Sam has spent a Deuce-N-Half full of $100s to ascertain suppressor backpressure. We did it a long time ago for a tacklebox full of singles. 🤷😎 ML

  -  laruetactical @lumberjacked_coder ... Because I am a premier barrelmaker, I can say with conviction that there is no such thing as "two barrels exactly the same". 38 likes
  -  longrangescience @laruetactical people don't realize how true this really is 8 likes
  -  okie_gunslinger @lumberjacked_coder I'm not a world class barrel maker and can tell you even if those barrels came of the same machine, from the same batch, made one after the other their will be differences. You will need a micrometer to tell but there will be variations. Microscopic variations in the tool, slight differences in the metallurgy of one barrel to the next. It is a physical impossibility to make them identical. 6 likes
  -  lumberjacked_coder @laruetactical well I mean more generally. Same length, gas port, manufacturer, etc. Not talking about 0.0001 tolerances. More like "both are 18" with 0.075 gas ports". 4 likes
  -  laruetactical @lumberjacked_coder ... So you mean give it a lick and a promise and see if they act alike ? What's the point ?
  -  the_grouchy_boomer_ @laruetactical I think he means they are exactly the same but different. 😊 3 likes
  -  laruetactical @tubefitter61 .. Okay, I chuckled 😎
  -  lumberjacked_coder @laruetactical well if they're the same barrel (length and gas port) then that would show how much one suppressor is better than the other because the test base is the same. 1 like
  -  wpatertr @lumberjacked_coder obviously
  -  lumberjacked_coder @wpatertr they don't look the same. That's why I was asking.
  -  those_arent_pillows @lumberjacked_coder you could always swap cans and check for repeatedly of results. Doubt those balloons come with an NIST cert, tho.
  -  those_arent_pillows @those_arent_pillows *repeatability
  -  laruetactical @those_arent_pillows ... I say again, the balloons were for Analog Brains. There are extremely sensitive sensors buried inside, grabbing the numbers. 1 like
  -  dale.patterson.94 @laruetactical , people used to say, "Close enough for government work"... I would laugh at them and say, "Not if your life depends on it".
brodyscarlett1 This is the most ghetto testing rig, but hey, it works 11 likes
  -  anti.antichrist.social.club @brodyscarlett1 🤦 very very very not ghetto... 23 likes
  -  cjrollins7 @brodyscarlett1 nothing ghetto about this my friend 7 likes
  -  spentbrasscasing @brodyscarlett1 More like ingenious. 🔥 4 likes
  -  eljefe757va @brodyscarlett1 what a stupid comment. 4 likes
  -  brodyscarlett1 @eljefe757va why? The reason I was calling it "ghetto" is because it is using a balloon as a measuring device, which doesn't output data for comparing (like a pressure sensor would). It's still a cool way of visually comparing 2 suppressors, but definitely not a formal test rig. 2 likes
  -  laruetactical @brodyscarlett1 ... You silly goose. I added the balloons for Analog brains . It's got highly sensitive pressure gauges inside. 42 likes
  -  zioszestymemes @laruetactical hey ive got an analog brain and i didnt think it was a bad idea dont lump us all in :( 4 likes

  -  those_arent_pillows @cjrollins7 let's be honest: the balloons are a *little* ghetto. If you want real data, it's gotta be hooked up to pressure transducers and a logger.
  -  laruetactical @those_arent_pillows ... Geez, you simply don't get it. You think you've once-again outsmarted the smartest in the business and now you want to show your ass. 🤪
  -  dale.patterson.94 @laruetactical , Glad you didn't use the word "transducers". Would have fried a few brain cells of some of these folks... I just love glassy stares, though.
  -  dale.patterson.94 @brodyscarlett1 , The balloon is just to cover the vent, so the CO2 doesn't "taint" the Earth. 🤓
  -  dale.patterson.94 @laruetactical , those "highly sensitive guages"... Would you say there are... A PLETHORA of them??
  -  laruetactical @dale.patterson.94 ... "Gizmos" will have to suffice 😎
ryanjones518 What are the units on this back pressure?

davispinner All the credit goes to the TranQuilo suppressor or are there other things yall do to your uppers? Looks neat! I don't have a suppressor yet but this has my interest
  -  laruetactical @davispinner ... Yes, all credit goes to my LaRue TranQuilo. Ask anyone that has one. There is no gas making it to the ejection port. I bled it all off before the bolt unlocked, which unplugs the chamber end of the barrel. 7 likes
  -  high_as_a_kite_kitty @laruetactical thoughts on Huxwrx cans, they just dropped a flow through 762 titanium can today all 3D printed and what not
  -  laruetactical @high_as_a_kite_kitty ... Don't know or care. I was first, period. Next. 4 likes

mattson39 So cool - what's the db reduction? 1 like
  -  laruetactical @mattson39 ... Who cares, as that's not what this is about.
  -  mattson39 @laruetactical just curious how back pressure and db reduction correlated. 1 like
  -  laruetactical @mattson39 ... For obvious reasons, flowthrough cans are a wee bit louder. But they dramatically cut breathable particulates 2 likes
  -  dale.patterson.94 @laruetactical , I'm glad somebody is considering what goes out the exit hole, instead of going back to the bolt. That's a big deal, and very few people understand it. You don't want to be breathing that stuff.
wedgetail_industries How did it look with no suppressor?

will.a.chambers OK, I need a TranQuilo now. Was already thinking about on for the Siete, but now I want to try one on the LT MGU. Just dropped some coin on ASR mounts, but yolo.
akramer989 Ok now try huxwerx
  -  laruetactical @akramer989 ... Huxworks can make their own back pressure tester. Like no-back-pressure cans, it's easy once someone has shown you how. 😎 3 likes
  -  akramer989 @laruetactical I like that you engage with your customers. I dig it
romeo_hotel_engineering I used a very similar approach for evaluating the gas volume that escapes out of the non-firing bore for my double barrel 12 gauge suppressor design. Bright minds think alike! 2 likes
laruetactical ... I was just thinking while at the H.E.B. grocery, there are still people walking around in masks. The same group that said the masks were needed also said 140dB and not a 0.001 dB more. Here we go again - Trust the Science 😎 19 likes

matt_fisher_actual Y'all should send a can to @thejaysituation @pewsciencellc 13 likes
  -  laruetactical @matt_fisher_actual ... Why ? Does it look like I didn't check all the f*ckin' boxes ? I'm the inventor of "No Back Pressure" cans. Everybody else is in the line behind me, trying to copy what I have long since patented. 😎 14 likes
  -  mgonz9731 @laruetactical I don't think he meant so @pewsciencellc can "improve" your suppressor OR patent sir. I think it's so people who can't get their hands on one without waiting the 9-12 months can get an idea of exactly how good the can is. Without blindly buying one and waiting way too long @pewsciencellc and @thejaysituation podcast are the only objective ways many people have to be exposed to different suppressors. It would probably raise interest in and awareness of the benefits of your suppressors. 7 likes
  -  laruetactical @mgonz9731 ... You mistakenly think my main interest is "marketing" 5 likes
  -  mgonz9731 @laruetactical actually I wasn't thinking about you at all. I was thinking it might be a great service to your many customers and fans to get to know that can better. 16 likes
  -  viscouscow @matt_fisher_actual Do you think it's as easy as sending a can to them?
  -  iratus_omni_tempore @laruetactical - Everybody else is in line, except Bevin Krittingham who is crawling under SHOT displays trying to sneak into your booth and steal the designs. 🤣 1 like
  -  matt_fisher_actual @mgonz9731 this exactly
  -  matt_fisher_actual @viscouscow obviously not.
  -  matt_fisher_actual @laruetactical it's not about marketing. It's not about doubting whether or not you "checked all the boxes" or invented it. I would genuinely like to see it compared with other suppressors in a standardized testing protocol.
If you don't want to, that's cool man. 6 likes
  -  __marcus___01 @laruetactical I own multiple larue rifles and numerous other products made by larue, have taken the armory course, and promote larue products to everyone I know that shoots...and I have to agree that it would be cool to see the larue can on the @pewsciencellc rankings list 🤷 or at least more content like this about the can/gas system itself. 4 likes
  -  laruetactical @mgonz9731 ... If they own LaRue TranQuilo, they already know it's the tits. If they don't own one, well they missed a helluva window 🤷 1 like

  -  ryan1oving @laruetactical why are you being such an unprofessional turd gobbler? Honestly Lol. Every smart buyer uses Pew Science Standards @pewsciencellc and if your can isn't on their list, then sorry Mark, people don't give a shit about it. This isn't about marketing at all. It's about publicly available scientific data for educated consumers looking for their next big commitment. 2 likes
  -  laruetactical @ryan1oving ... Do they have a back-pressure sensor ... other than "this one sure was smokier than our favorite" ? Doubtful. So who has the science ?
  -  lumberjacked_coder @matt_fisher_actual unfortunately this is how Larue operates. "Don't ask questions". It's quality stuff but sometimes Mark gets a little to over his head about his products, and his idea of marketing is "shut up and just buy my stuff". 1 like
  -  laruetactical @lumberjacked_coder ... I get in a little over my head ? Ha ! FFS, it's a damn muffler, and nothing more. And mine were stupid cheap for a long time. No excuse for the Science Majors to not have bought one. Oh, but that would've meant doing something. 🤷 1 like
