... Okay, for you guys following "The Mailbox", over the top of the scope is a water tower 484 yards out there. Satisfyingly, the Leica was sitting right over the NightForce's crosshair. As expected, the 3D model drooped under the weight of the Leica and is aiming about 10 feet over the N-F. The N-F is aiming at the landing on the right side of the water tower. Again, ain't nuttin' but a thang. In the other thread, there's too many low-IQers giving me shit, so don't expect this type of post as often, as I got better things to do than stoke the haters, plus my ban button stands the chance of overheating. I need to know if y'all are savvy enough to read the upside down 484 yards ? 😎 ML

trevorreust I like it, wonder if you could get with Leica and have them do a limited run with numbers inverted? But yes no biggie to read upside down.
bill_stanton_ I think all this stuff is so cool. Literally coming up with solutions out of thin air. Or plastic.
kristof2319 Personally, I very much enjoy these type of posts. Thank you for sharing the genius.
captain_roundhouse Don't let those couch surfing ding dongs stifle innovation. Most of them probably own chinese knockoffs of your products and don't even realize it. For every one of them, there are 100 more of us. Heck, if you ever have problems with your engineering dept playing grab fanny all day, I'll print and deliver to Leander faster than you can think up version 0.2
jordin_metz Anyone know how long it takes to get some Troy Front and Rear Folding Battle Sight with Tritium Inserts Combo?
optiskate Pretty neat idea.
vaportrailtactical I thought the U shape thing (previous edition) was going to be a press fit so you could place it however you wanted

andrewmconrad So it's just mounted right next to it to get you an accurate yardage while prwtty much keeping your eyes down range at all times?

  -  andrewmconrad @laruetactical pretty neat! Are you gonna produce that or just for fun?

  -  laruetactical @jwhiteinstallations ... Yep, you'll be able to range in the dark since your Leica is preset to aim where the scope is looking. 1 like
alau_firearmstraining That's cool!
eadie.steve Does the Leica have a constant ranging option or do you have to triggAR it?
  -  laruetactical @eadie.steve ... Gotta trigger it
elmer_the_fudd_ How about a video of you firing it?

cvmn66 I'm just jealous of the 3d print all I've managed get out of the home built printer was a blob of melted plastic, so if anyone needs a plastic model of used chewing gum I got you.
  -  laruetactical @cvmn66 ... Thanks for posting that, I'll hold off on taking a sledge hammer to mine 😂😂😂 1 like
depredadorsolutions Man I think this is cool. I can read it. Perhaps @leicahunting can make the distance display rotate; for applications such as The Mailbox.
an_internet_explorer_ Couldn't you flip the whole thing over and mirror the bolt pattern that goes to the scope and have it work like a cradle? That way the Leica would be right side up?
an_internet_explorer_ I mean...it would hang lower since you'd want the view finder parallel with the glass... hmm end up too much in the way?
  -  laruetactical @ethan_fleitas .. I follow my own lead🤷 1 like
  -  an_internet_explorer_ @laruetactical won't argue with that! 🙌 I'm just glad I get to watch 👀🍆
trey_199_ I had this exact idea for a product this morning at work, and was gonna use my buddys 3D printer to make it happen, oh well Larue beat me to it I guess😂
hobbit0717 The first design is always the buggiest for me. That looks real cool.
mikenotgonnagetit This is innovation. This is cool shit! Too bad so many idiots can't figure out how prototyping works and seem to think that the prototype is or should be the final product.....it isnt. Keep up the good and cool work Mark and ignore the asshats that are talking shit all the while they arent building shit or even innovating shit.
joe.numbers Very awesome! I've wondered about something like this for a while and never got around to making something in the machine shop. Ignore the assholes
chad_c_peplinski I dig it. Way to get creative.
thebigred692000 I think that it shows a ton of ingenuity to be able to mount the range finder in a place that best suits you. Hater are going to hate. R&D is where it's at.
gh_arms I've been aloof but does a shortened or lowered 845 present too high? Pirates will need a special disclaimer if using this proto. 🏴💀

  -  laruetactical @sasquatch tipsandtricks ... Ha, took me awhile but I got to the bottom of you Foster Brooks, you were the drunk that was the laughing stock of the ShotShow a few years back. Hope you're better now. Keep in mind I may have you confused, acuity and all that. Speaking of acuity, being a budding hypochondriac, I self-scheduled a cognitive test when I turned 60, to have a baseline to look back at/on when I turn 70, 80, 90 etc. I was able to recall, reverse, and recite 11 random integers ("numbers" for you hillbillies) backwards. Neither the neuro or his team had not seen that before. I did it several times 💯 mistake-free. Go figure. ML

mckeonekert Got it. Works for me.
mr.mercury24 I think there is... probably a way to design it so it's like... not upside down, but hey I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
fenton1441 Now I'm curious if leica can flip the digits with software. Nice rapid prototype! 2 likes
og_scottiep What problem is this solving? Is it faster than resting on the rifle and lasing? 3 likes
  -  laruetactical @og_scottiep ... As a ballistician, you understand the need for accuracy. This holds the Leica's range box rock solid while the button is pushed. 4 likes
  -  og_scottiep @laruetactical understand that. But wouldn't it being cumbersome and blocking FOV and turrets outweigh a rigid mounted advantage? As you can easily place the LRF on the elevation turret for stability. 2 likes
  -  laruetactical @og_scottiep ... Have at it. You rest your Leica any which way you can. I'm not worried about field of view for stuff standing near anything I'm shooting at that's in need of a range finder. 9 likes

joburn21 good idea. but my only question is why not (given the fact that you have the materials and software) make a design that would hold them upright

iavramis Is it possible to build some type of tensioners or worm gear to allow you to zero it with the reticle? I was trying to figure out a way to do that with my spotter and range finder- I failed. I always wondered how "co-witnessed" the Wilcox range finders are to the scope when they are put on a diving board. 1 like
  -  laruetactical @iavramis ... This is the basic first step, if course it can be a CNC alignment device if that's what the poors want ... or something a lot less involved.
  -  kodak_zakk @iavramis the Wilcox raptars are zero-able and hold zero pretty well
  -  kodak_zakk @iavramis the raptar is also the answer to this whole design

  -  jonathanklee570 @laruetactical lol just think it's a pretty cool idea. Figured you were either removing the range finder before firing or were a lefty. Then again, if you were a lefty, you'd probably be cranking out left sided ejection port ARs by now with everything else you do.
