... 3 shot vs 5 shots vs 10 shot groups. For those of you saying 3 shot groups are meaningless, here ya go (100 yards). With that "shot out" barrel (from my last IG), I shot the 3 shot group (1st pic), then added 2 more bullets on it (2nd pic), then 5 more bullets on it (3rd pic), and 4th pic says the 10 shot group measures 0.875". Discuss. ML

thiswildadventure Mark, could you approximate your shot cadence here? Interested to know how warm the barrel might've been.

  -  laruetactical @thiswildadventure ... I shot 3 shots, took this phone 100 yards down to the target, took the 3 shot pic, then went back and shot 2 more rounds at it, rinse repeat. 5 likes

  -  txmerica @thiswildadventure on my Larues- you can shoot as fast as you can get on target/press the trigger and get groups this size, for one 3, 5 or 10 round group.

grommettaz 3 shots tests the rifle, 5 shots tests the shooter...IMO 1 like

fenton1441 I have an original Stealth upper from 2007. I can get it uncomfortably hot and it still keeps tight groups. That was the reason I got one instead of your competitors back in 2007. It takes abuse well.

thirtythree_three @laruetactical it isn't that 3 shots is meaningless, it's just not as significant. Two shots is also not meaningless, but it's a lot less meaningful than three. Your boy Litz addresses this in one of his books. There's a mathematical extrapolation where a 5 round group would be mathematically expected to be (making this figure up) 1.35x the size of a 3-shot group. So, when someone says, "I shot a 1/4 Minute 3-shot group", that may be a factual statement, but it would reasonably expected to be closer to 1/2MOA if they shot 5 rounds. It's been a few years since my last stats class, but there's a z value or a t value or an R value that says "how good" the sample set is in indicating the behavior of the population. Whatever that value is is a lot better at 5 than it is at 3. 2 likes

pathfinder1776 It's the same as process capability in a manufacturing process. Three shots isn't entirely meaningless, but it's far less statistically significant. 1 like

  -  laruetactical @whyintheworldamidoingthis ... It varies. We were and have been making an all-out effort to shrink order-to-ship times, but right in the middle of the game the Great 2020 Gun Rush took off ... caused by either the CommieFlu or this election cycle, or both.
