... Ahhh, I've been waiting to see the 1st-ARticles roll off these new complex fixtures. What an effort this took to achieve. Toolmakers used almost every aspect of CNC machining to land these bad boys, with some manual milling thrown in for good measure. Why ? To keep the Haas's doors closed as much as possible. When the doors are closed with the spindle screaming and coolant flying ... gets us closer to getting y'all's backorders made and into your hands u s ML

  -  laruetactical @cdm_gear ... Prog-milling ... they fall out of the mill ready for the tumblers, then to blasting, then to anodizing, etc. 3 likes
  -  cdm_gear @laruetactical isn't 1st op and 2nd op riding along until 3rd op is finished?
  -  cdm_gear @g_walker9 I just want to know how because I'll use the technique if it's faster.
  -  g_walker9 @cdm_gear typically when using tool opt this will cut down on tool changes saving time. If your smart you'd have multiple identical fixtures that can be swapped and loaded back onto the machine plate, there are multiple location solutions.
  -  cdm_gear @g_walker9 always eager to learn how people do things. Thanks.
  -  laruetactical @g_walker9 ... Guess I'm smart then, cause we have multiple plates so the tech swaps parts on one plate, while the other plate is running ... leaving the doors closed and running. 1 like

sommere.54 The attention to work holding and production efficiency displayed here is not entirely lost on those of us that are not mainstay machinists. Good work is evident in and of itself. 1 like
sandy__mitchell May I ask what are they? I never know unless you tell us 😂 unless it's something I recognize
  -  laruetactical @sandy__mitchell ... That's the fixture for making 30mm vertical rings for LT-104 & LT-204 mounts - 4 needed per mount. 2 likes
jkedsnake My hat goes off to you @laruetactical I know exactly what I'm looking at. I wish we made those kind of production numbers in order to justify such jewelry in fixtures 👏👏👏 3 likes
ghostmarmot Finally got my tracking number today! Super happy, can't wait for this weekend. Assuming UPS doesn't delay anything lol 1 like
  -  mini_big_one @laruetactical is there anything "modern" that impresses you work holding wise?
  -  laruetactical @mini_big_one ... That Haas trunnion we had making the Texas SuperBowl rings (at ShotShow) takes my breath. 2 likes

tpapaleo9 Good to hear. My back order is closing in on 10 months 🤞. Some things are worth the wait.

jnoahheafner Any ETA on 20" 7.62 upper kits? I ordered mine 6 months ago and still no word. I know it's crazy out there but I've referred several friends for 5.56 uppers and they got theirs in a month and a half. Just curious, not upset. I understand the insanity of the past year. 1 like
