... Took this pic of San Francisco Mtn. (Flagstaff, AZ) on my way west yesterday. While flying myself to ShotShow 8-10 years ago, I flew north of that lone tall mountain and found an amazing field of volcanos that went on for miles. I dropped the Navion Rangemaster down and flew through them. They are all classic volcanos, many with craters in the top. Make a low pass if you're ever back there in a plane. ML

captkerkman I've flown over those plenty of times and figured they were all volcanic mountains but never remembered to look up the info when I got on the ground. Thanks for the info! 1 like
daddyscott2001 We drove and hiked quite a bit when we were out there for a mission trip a couple of years ago. The lava fields are quite expansive!
kevinmotoguy I have hiked to the top of sp crater it's loaded up 50 bmg ap cores from old machine gun shoots out there
smitty6creed Hope you enjoyed your time in our beautiful state! Flag is pretty country. You'll need to explore the Mogollon Rim area sometime too.
coreypeterson59 @laruetactical used to live 2 hours away in northern Phoenix. We would fly my dads Bonanza up to Sedona for brunch on Saturdays. There are a ton of awesome lava tubes(caves) to explore up in there. It was my favorite place to go when I was in Boy Scouts!
kodiak_precision I have been on the ground there many times. It is quite amazing and extremely rough terrain. A different kind of beauty.
