... Throwback Friday ... years ago I flew my L17 down to south Texas and picked up Ted Nugent and flew him home to Waco. Actually Uncle Ted flew most of the way. When we got near Waco, I took the controls and made a course correction to his ranch. Having scouted it out ahead of time, I set his ranch on my Navion's nose. To his surprise, I slowed down, added flaps, flew right over the top of the telephone/powerline pole in his big pasture, then pulled all power and dropped her into the grass. I taxied up to his house, kicked him and his gear out, then added power and made for home. Memorable flight.
