... Pardon me for allowing my mind to drift this morning, but .... while reading Jim Harmer's great article on wind deflection, I note that 5 out of the Top-7 least-deflectable rounds are all 6.5s 🧐 And that explains why SOCOM has fixed it's coordinates on the 6.5CM for it's MRGG-S (Mid Range Gas Gun - Sniper) . Slide left to see article's coordinates. It's worth the quick read ☕ Enjoy 🤓 ML (P.S. - A 308 shooting 175 SMK at 2,500 FPS (?) into a full value 10 mph crosswind ... drifts 100 inches at 1,000 yards ... 8 feet, 4 inches 😳)

daveyelverton Might it have something to do with the 6.5 BCs? Me thinks yes. Slippery in every way. 3 likes
kodiak_precision The 308 is still a great way to learn out to 1000 yards because it is a little more critical. No argument about 6.5's though. Was shooting 6.5 308 before the .260 was a commercial round. Enjoy the weekend and get a little shooting or fishing in. 1 like
_capt_obvious The Swedes were onto something all those years ago. I loved 6.5x55 long before the 6.5 revolution started in the US 3 likes
  -  wet_neck_67 @_capt_obvious amen. I had several of those and they were tack drivers. 2 likes
selway_archery Would be interesting to see where the 257wby with the new 133 berger would fall on that list 1 like
smitty6creed Interesting read. Surprised how relatively poorly the 6CM compared by numbers. I guess it makes sense because of their lighter mass but with it being known as a "wind-cheater" I found that surprising.
timmy_tomahawk Please offer a 6.5 Predatober upper
gwalchmai21 One match I shot we were having around 26-ish mph left-to-right wind, and I ran some calculations for what the 800-yd target would be with .308, and it was something around holding six-and-some-odd feet off the target (been a couple years, memory's a bit fuzzy). Fortunately I was shooting 6.5 Cr that day, and my holds were considerably less than that. Plus, the wind died down quite a bit before I started shooting, so that helped, too. I'm no expert, but I've shot enough to know that reading the wind is primary when shooting at range. 1 like

wjoecunningham Would be really cool for original OSR/OBR purchasers to rebarrel in 6.5 with LT support
deo_vindice1984 Can we get 6.5 creed and .223 as well?
helodriver20 Interesting. I have a Weatherby Vanguard 6.5-300. Haven't shot it yet. It was a @rmef_official lifetime membership promo. 2 likes

  -  expedition_jkx @laruetactical also I'd love to see an OBR 20" barrel in this caliber.
