... This is Olivia ... I drew short straw at my last elk hunt. On one of the long rides back into camp, Olivia and I almost made it into a half mile long glade. Cold wind was howling, so I went to put my old favorite coat on, got my right arm in, then went to put my left arm in as Olivia is plodding along, wind hit my coat and Olivia thought a terra-dactyl had landed on her back and was about to bite through her neck. All hell broke loose !! Reins out of my hands, with one arm still half in the straight-jacket coat. She jinks and dives her way through the last of the trees to hit the open glade at a dead mule run. It was going okay until she decided to jump the small creek. Long story short, I actually managed to ride her to a stop, then she acted like nothing happened. Good times.   -  laruetactical @3gunconcepts ... Holy hell, the Beard did get injured !!! While taking a noonday nap on top of a small peak, a grizzly sow hunted him down and charged. Todd woke to her woofs as she came on like gangbusters. He leaped to his feet, grabbing his 300 Norma Mag on his way up. At 10 feet, he dropped the hammer on an empty chamber (horseback elk hunt). She took the hint when he cycled the bolt, then wheeled, gathered her cub and dove back over the edge out of sight. The Beard shredded his bicep in the leap to his feet and had to have it reconstructed. Though the Beard had a knee brace on, he was out hiking me. And after ripping his bicep, the Beard stayed in the fight and bagged a nice bull. ML 6 likes
