... Besides being born a ginger, son of a U.S.Navy Submariner, I was lucky to have renowned Benchrest World Champion Jef Fowler as my closest rural neighbor. On a dove hunt on a Tennessee pond, Jef showed me his turn-a-birdshell-into-a-slug trick. The pics tell the story. With a pocketknife, he cut the shotgun shell almost in two, in the middle of the plastic wad's cushion. Then he carefully loaded it into his shotgun and closed the breech. Then he carefully aimed way across and into the pond and pulled the trigger. Wow, one splash flew up. 👀 He told me to use that trick if I was squirrel hunting with my back leaning against a hickory tree and a big buck showed himself and all I had was birdshot. I've hauled this all to the range to shoot it. Standby for a video 🎯 ML

He was IMO one of the greatest modern Warriors of our time,who not only shaped my time & choices in the Military& life , but was the most important male figure in my life outside of my family .He was one of the first SEALs into combat & former Commanding Officer of UDT21 & SEAL Team 6.Your Dad most likely would have shared the Ramen, Fish, and Feet life with him at times, as his stories of exploits on Subs was both exciting & terrifying from all around the world .Including Deploying on mission from Nuclear Subs while being hunted.Deploying on one of the deepest exits from a Submarines Torpedo Tube, at maximum depth for concealment , on mission, while being hunted & having a ear drum blow ,causing disorientation & having to complete mission etc . He always had a great opinion of the Sub crews he worked with & their bravery & commitment to get the Mission accomplished ."Fair Winds and Following Seas" - Capt Ron you Glorious Bastard
