The average age for student pilots is 45 years old. This is me in my old Navion a few years ago ... I'm her curator. Nuttin' to flying and it's time to hook yourself up with a pilot's license. ML. #Navion

jacob_joness_ How expensive is a pilots license and to maintain one? I see such a huge range of prices online
  -  laruetactical @jacob_joness_ ... I bought that Navion and had someone teach me to fly it. My advice - buy a freshly annualled Cessna 172 and find a likable instructor and away you go on the cheap. ML
  -  a3addon @jacob_joness_ the range is huge because there are a lot of variable. I went for my check ride with just barely over the minimum hours required. Some take more time to get ready. Also, if your a small guy and can fit in a C152 you will be paying somewhere around $100/hr for primary instruction. If you want to fly a C172 it can be $130 or more. Different places have different rental costs. I did all my primary in a C152 except for a few flights in a C172 to get checked out so I can rent it. Then I started my IFR in a C172 but never finished. 1 like

txstvanwilder I was lucky enough to grow up in a family of aviators, got mine at 20. @laruetactical does your Navion have the e225? 1 like
  -  laruetactical @txstvanwilder ... That's a true and stock L17B. It's got the original, 205 hp, unmodified E185-9 engine. ML 2 likes

  -  laruetactical @flyoverutah ... I chainsawed a bunch of cedars off close to the ground, then rented a tracked stump grinder and ground the stumps off to just below the surface and voila'!, a 100' wide north/south grass strip. ML
j_frank24_ Flying let's me spend way too much money with y'all. 😬
dune_shoot Awesome!
a3addon Got my pvt license when I was 18 but haven't flown in almost a decade. 😭
  -  laruetactical @a3addon ... renew your medical and get current via a bi-annual review (BFR) and restart the clock. ML 1 like
  -  a3addon @laruetactical I know, but I keep buying your products instead. 😂 I was about to, but we just moved from NJ to NC so once things settle down I'll get back into it. 1 like

john_wells_101 Well, nothing but money! 😂
trapper_88 I would but 5 eye surgeries later I can say goodbye to that dream🤷
  -  laruetactical @trapper_88 ... Sorry about your eye surgeries. You can still learn to fly, but ya can't solo without the medical. Meaning you can wear an instructors ass off doing landings until nobody can land as good as you. ML
