... Starnes Barbeque is in Paducah, Kentucky. There was a world-class pulled-pork master that ran Ott's Barbeque in east Tennessee. Ott had a sweetheart deal with a local hickory axe handle factory and got all their knotty rejects, which he used in his rather sizable barbeque pit. Anyhow, way back when, Ott apprenticed at Starnes Barbeque in Paducah. And that's where you get the closest thing to Ott's Barbeque sauce. If you get near there this 4th of July weekend, stop and get several bottles, you know, for Christmas gifts to deserving friends. It's awesome on pulled-pork and also those rotisserie chickens. "Makin' Bacon" R.I.P. Ott. Enjoy y'all, ML

j.d.mcbee I grew up on Starnes BBQ and only live 30min from it now. I still enjoy setting at the bar and eating a sandwich. Only BBQ sauce I know of if you want it Hot you just add more!!!
  -  laruetactical @j.d.mcbee ... Do they iron/toast hockey puck-like sammiches at the bar ? 1 like
  -  j.d.mcbee @laruetactical still toasted the same way and slice the big dill pickle into halves or spears for you. I get mine grilled with cheese and make the sauce hot.
  -  laruetactical @j.d.mcbee ... Ott's made flat and parallel sammiches that were toasted as they were flattened. They brought them out in very thin almost see-through paper also perfectly folded military crisp. You open it up and put mild or hot Ott's sauce on it, a little salt, and you ate your sammich with a plain bag of Lay's potato chips. 2 likes
  -  j.d.mcbee @laruetactical almost the same way accept they will sauce it if you want and choose your chips off the rack!!!
tn_patriot Ott's or a variation of the name was still around 20 years ago in Knoxville / surrounding area. Had it a few times. Wonder if the same? Go Vols! 1 like
