... I call this "The Windmill". Last thing you do is grab the Windmill up and blow the setup off. No, not my idea, but soon as I saw it I said "Stick one in every CNC Mill ... NOW !" Edited - I looked and it's called "MidacoFan" - ML

csolstice032018 That reminds me of the Laser Car Wash! 1 like
mako762 Ooooo 😮 well isn't that fancy! That should keep the work area outside the machine cleaner. Especially, for the messy operators. 🤨
  -  laruetactical @mako762 ... It does stay a whole lot cleaner and shirts last longer. 💪 1 like
chrishaas268 This would be great if all you are clearing if coolant/ cutting fluid, we had an air blast on our machine ( a lot more air) and it still wouldn't remove chips the same as a person with an air hose. Bottom line this can't work well. 1 like
  -  laruetactical @chrishaas268 ... Bottom line is it works great, roughing the table in before the doors are opened. 4 likes
  -  just_jewett69 @laruetactical those fans work, we run them at 5k rpm. They also make a smaller solid metal one that looks like a boat prop. Write a quick subroutine and you can have it in all your programs quickly 1 like
  -  ky_wta @chrishaas268 bottom line is. No more coolant rockets to the face when you hit a pocket full of coolant with the air hose. Enjoy the little things! 1 like
  -  laruetactical @ky_wta ... Exactly 💪💯 1 like
  -  ky_wta @laruetactical the flight path of shavings is easily controlled by the air hose. Coolant on the other hand has a mind of its own and its out for blood. But seriously.... maybe wear a helmet or take cover for the first spool up on a new "Windmill". 😁
  -  laruetactical @ky_wta ... The doors are closed when it runs. 🙄
  -  chrishaas268 @laruetactical my 34 years in machining says it can't, I've seen it all and this is a stupid toy, I know you're trying to sell it but I've seen 34 years of salesmen selling crap and this is just another one.
  -  laruetactical @chrishaas268 ... I ain't trying to sell it and you'd know that if you could read for shit. And speaking of years in the cut, I started my shop in 1980 newbie. 2 likes
_eddievega What's one of those setups run you fan and all?
hobbit0717 Great idea!
markfoss These fans are so cool... But new machinists need to learn to taste when the coolant needs changing from a good air nozzle cleaning session 😂😂😂 4 likes

wy_wy_shoe86 I'm sure those sound sweet when the new guy crashes it playing around where he shouldn't be 😂😂
  -  carl.legan @wy_wy_shoe86 or the engineer forgets what tool is what and tries to run it as a drill, or runs it at 20,000RPM
  -  laruetactical @carl.legan ... In the 70s, as a kid, I fired up a big American Lathe at Westinghouse with the wrong RPM ... it wound up and too late I went "Holy F*** !!!" A stand-off I had piss-poorly bolted to the faceplate launched off and shot across the shop and buried into a Lista tool cabinet. 👀 Some of those lessons could've killed somebody, but none did. Only my blood was spilled. ML 4 likes

fb_boyd MidacoFan", would you look at that.
carl.legan They make things so much nicer! Not blowing chips back into your face. 1 like
