... Blanchard grinding S7 Toolsteel billet plates for our MBT-2S triggers. I ran my first Blanchard in 1978 while working as an apprentice diemaker. Die shops used Blanchards to bring random chunks of tool steel they had laying around into the thickness the next die needed. Machinist is putting the last plate on the magnet table, then hitting the green button to turn the magnet on, then rolling table under the grinder, then plunging down on the parts to clean up one side, then grind the other side to correct thickness.   -  laruetactical @toofman ... No, but you damn sure have to know what you're doing with them. 2 likes
mikey_jay_710 I understand the current market and hate being that guy, but is it safe to assume items (such as your triggers) on your website are backorder status unless the site specifically shows in stock like the MRO combo that I recently picked up?
  -  laruetactical @mikey_jay_710 ... No, 'cause we suck 😕 at updating our website, but we excel at making our stuff. 🧐 4 likes
  -  mikey_jay_710 @laruetactical Thanks for getting back, and glad to see y'all are focusing on the important stuff 🤙 About to place an order with more confidence that you guys aren't overwhelmed to the point of a 3 month backorder lol

mal1nis Hopefully the single stages are starting production soon.
  -  thecodystone @mal1nis I heard they were discontinued. You can get one if you buy a complete lower though.
loader914 Blanchard grinders are a great tool to quickly bring multiple parts to thickness . But don't forget to shim , flip and shim and repeat for thicker plates . 1 like
jakewirtz How does this compare to surface grinder? Looks like it takes away a lot more material in one pass!
  -  laruetactical @jakewirtz ... It's designed to break the wheel down as it plunges. So you set it up to go 0.100 on the dial. Hit start and let it dive in. At 0.100" it stops and "sparks-out". You them@measure to see how much it took off. Let's say it took 0.075" off. That means it's a 4 to 3 ratio. Every thousandths you're come down, it take's 3/4 of a thousandths off. And that ends today's Blanchard lesson. 🤓 2 likes

  -  jakewirtz @laruetactical thanks for the lesson!👊🏻😎
  -  duckhnt @laruetactical me too... But you can delete and start over. Still more forgiving than machine work.
meatsweatsmike Does the interrupted cut/grind ever give you problems?
  -  laruetactical @meatsweatsmike ... None 1 like
oneasteriskindustries That is beautiful.
mosin_gunner7.62x54r I'll tell you what isn't fun, dumping the chips on one that hasn't been dumped since 1944

  -  mosin_gunner7.62x54r @laruetactical crowbar and shopvac, same thing basically😂
longrangesurfer That's cool.
dmcwilliam.762 I used to use a blanchard when I was building/maintaining stamping dies in the early 2000s. Ours had a grinding wheel mounted 90 degrees to what you're showing here though 1 like
connelldad Looks super precise. 😜
dillan9x19 Got my trigger in yesterday im so happy to get one and test it out. Why would I buy a Geissle when there is Larue? 1 like
aaronshields89 We have a blanchard at work. Cool old school machine that gets used all day everyday. 1 like

  -  aaronshields89 @laruetactical haha yup! We cut gears for a living. We have 28 gleason 106 gear generators that cut spiral bevel gears day in and day out. Gear driven machines are still out there and there still making modern day parts 60+ years later. keep on keeping on 👍
jess.r.blanchard What is a Blanchard? That's my last name 😂 did someone in my family finally do something cool? 🤣🤣🤣
  -  laruetactical @mehkoiter ... Yes, Mr. Blanchard crushed it 1 like

  -  cardwell253 @laruetactical😂😂 someone forgot to turn the magnet on.
mattgyver357 I used to tap the back of the machine when a coworker would Blanchard grind aluminum. Good way to get a wrench thrown at you. 3 likes
  -  laruetactical @mattgyver357 ... LOL, old trick !!!!
_eddievega When I read "S7 toolsteel billet" I figured it was the triggers and I was about to ask if you could post videos on the trigger manufacturing process 😂👍
morin4510 I need a LaRue single stage in my life👍🧡
