... This Haas VF2-SS (SuperSpeed) CNC mill w/4th-axis is prog-milling our R.A.T. stock's "Actuator Rod". If you have a LaRue RAT Stock, go grab it and you'll see a black Anodized shaft the pull ring is attached to ... that shaft is this part. The Lathe shop runs us buckets of blanks as seen in my hand. Those blanks are finished two at a time in this mill. They start off in the two stationary chucks on far left side where some end work happens. then they move into the two red 4th Axis 5C collets on the left, then proceed to the 2 collets on the right. Bam, machining done. Next stop - vibratory tumbling, then on to the anodizer. What does it do ? When you pull the pull-ring back, it retracts the locking pin so you can slide the stock forward or backward 💪 ML

  -  laruetactical @dkoenig1134 ... Haas CNCs helped build us a fantastic reputation ... I suspect programmers lacking good common sense were the issue. The nut behind the trigger. 🤷 3 likes
divingdriver Brilliant idea of putting the cleaning rods in the stock. Thank you! 1 like
  -  laruetactical @divingdriver ... And those have to be made too and we had to build a mold to injection mold those RAT stock rod holders. 1 like
  -  laruetactical @divingdriver ... Someone posted recently that it took him 5 years to find those hidden cleaning rods. RTFM 🤷 2 likes
  -  divingdriver @laruetactical took me a while to figure out how to access them my friend. The stock that keeps on giving!🤣😂
  -  laruetactical @divingdriver ... The male threads on those cleaning rods are actually stainless steel extra long setscrews. We needed something tougher that could survive a hasty assembly by the guy under fire needing a knock-out rod RFN. 3 likes

cletus.james.walker What CAM software do you guys use ?
  -  laruetactical @cletus.james.walker ... We use Solidworks & MasterCam ... constantly updated versions of both. SolidWorks for drawing and MasterCam for enhanced coding / surfing & program construction help. No complaints.

jtac_tard Using all the G50's😂
patriotvalley Lots of moving the parts around. Might be better suited to put it in a Swiss or a Y axis lathe with a sub. That is similar in complexity to something I am making for a local motorcycle parts business. We run it on a bar fed ASY and they drop off complete, hours and hours of run time without operator involvement.
