oliphant6320 Attended the SCI show in Vegas last Saturday. Vegas is a "masking required indoors" state, my observation was it is fairly well complied with most places during the weekend. However, on the SCI show floor, for both attendees and exhibitors, I would guess maybe 1-2% wore masks. Definitely can tell where the hunting community stands on freedom of choice. 4 likes

drickvalsky I have said since the very beginning that I think people would be amazed to know how many of these folks actually like their mask and are happy to have the excuse to cover their face. It's the same mindset that allows people to be bold from behind a keyboard where they have no accountability. The mask offer the same thing in a way. 3 likes

ks_maddics_kc Cloth and surgical masks do pretty much nothing for aerosolized viruses. For those interested in why: When you restrict the airflow via a mask you increase the pressure locally. Nature is always wanting to minimize energy potentials and to do so in this case the air flow take the preferential path through the air gaps bc this is the least resistance path (really its least energy path but we don't have to dive into that detail if you don't want to). If you increase the mask layers and still have any gap all you do is increase the "preference" of the airflow to go through the gaps. Lower the mask density and particles go right through. The masks stop a few of thr larger droplets from a sneeze but those aren't the ones we are concerned with anyway. They fall quickly. We are concerned about the tiny aerosolized particles bc they travel much further. Now to make matters worse the restricted cross sectional area of the gaps paired with the facial features create effective nozzles which help to jettison the streams further.
