... Landed at 9:20pm Texas time last night. 6 hours and 20 minutes of non-stop flying, Las Vegas, NV to Georgetown, Tx, mostly at 9,500 msl. Tailwind - 195-200 mph ground speed ... burning 12.8 gph. That flashing green light to the left of the runway is the "Airport Beacon" ... it tells night pilots where the hell the airport is 😎 ML

boltgunners And the beacon will designate what type of airport. For example dual peak white and green is military. 3 likes

gunsbbqnbeer Do you fly to Henderson or North Las Vegas when you go out there?

  -  gunsbbqnbeer @laruetactical Funny how we don't call McCarran by it's new name, because it's offensive. 3 likes

  -  mhutch79 @laruetactical that's a real game changer! The Mooney and V tailed Bo I fly don't have a autopilot. Yet.

laruetactical @charliesclones ... With zero hours logged, I bought a Navion L17-B in 2000, then paid someone to teach me to fly it.
laruetactical @charliesclones ... I know this because I logged 3 hours in the Space Shuttle Simulator on it's last day of operation. Then it got busted up and hauled off to A&M. I made 10 landings and all 10 were within the operating window of the Shuttle. It would drop you at 10,000 feet on a downwind. You then flew it to a landing. Flew just like a dirtied-up Navion.
laruetactical @charliesclones ... Dirtied-up, Navions have the same glide path as the Space Shuttle 😎
