... Never leaving things to chance - I pulled one of the Black & Tan 6mmARCs that was about to go out the door out of it's box and proof-grouped it. Two sighter shots got me near enough. Then the 3-shot group was exactly 1/2". I then took a guess where to hold to hit dead center and 💥 did. Ship it 😎 ML (P.S. This is the exact same barrel that's in our 6ARC MGUs)
861 likesmlnorth.oh Question, sir. Why only short barrel available on .308? Read my LaRue mail last night, quite excited until I noticed that.
  -  laruetactical @mlnorth.oh ... Short ?
  -  mlnorth.oh @laruetactical 18" vs the 22" available for the ARC
  -  icecoldmn @mlnorth.oh that 18" is good out to 1100 yards In my obr, im down to shooting my 14.5 out to 500 and points better surpressed
  -  lcpl_loreg @mlnorth.oh if the twist rate is 1/8 as the page says, the stability you gain from the twist will make it more accurate than a longer barrel with a slower twist. This is the future of accuracy. 1 like
laruetactical   -  @lcpl_loreg ... Also, I am the only guy that used QD scope mounts I made and bolt action rifles I made to screw the barrel I made on, then attach the scope, then hit a quarter at 100 yards first and only shot. 😎 1 like

matt_c_era Love that you all finally have MGUs in new calibers, but why is the 308 twice as expensive as the 556? You all have been known for your 308 guns, and there's no way it's using twice as much material lol 1 like
  -  kilburnc @matt_c_era r&d? Manufacturing equipment? Time to manufacture? That goes in to the price of a product as much material.
  -  matt_c_era @kilburnc they offered the UUK for years lol they've already done the r&d and had the manufacturing equipment. It's not like this is a completely new profit
  -  matt_c_era @matt_c_era new product*
  -  laruetactical @matt_c_era ... It takes serious volume to amortize the setup time across. 2 likes
  -  laruetactical @matt_c_era .. Also, we're likely making the most accurate gas guns on Earth ... period. So there's that ... 3 likes

  -  samuel_west_92 @dreauxmire might want to ask why even knights is moving to 14.5 barrels in their 308's... they are seeing sub MOA out to 1200 yards... I personally do not need anything longer if I am getting results like that out of a 14.5...
  -  regularprecisiondude @samuel_west_92 lol. Believe that all you want. And if you do, you likely haven't shot long range much.
  -  samuel_west_92 @regularprecisiondude haha. Okay.
  -  regularprecisiondude @samuel_west_92 getting it once vs consistently is what matters. It's simple physics.
  -  samuel_west_92 @regularprecisiondude well seeing as knights won't let a gun leave that is get "consistent" hits I feel like it's all up to the shooter 👍. Again this is the argument that a 14.5 is just as capable now as 16-18 were back in the day. Just so we are clear. Not comparing a 14.5 out to 1100 against a 20" gun... that would be silly.
  -  samuel_west_92 @regularprecisiondude there is fuck all reason for 16-18 anymore. If you are bench shooting or held up shooting. No shit. Bring out the longest you got. This was about barrel length in a fighting rifle length. So yeah... 14.5 absolutely fucks. Sounds like you just haven't gotten that range time you mentioned me not having behind a rifle like that... extensively... out to 1000 yards... because if you have you would know that. Modern barrel tech + modern glass + better ammo makes all this very very possible. You should get out and follow your own advice sometime.
  -  regularprecisiondude @samuel_west_92 psstttt, the 16-18" guns now have those same modern upgrades, and get a bit more velocity. The 14.5's are going transonic before 900 and subsonic near 1k with mag loaded ammo unless you're at high altitude. Again, sub moa can be done at 1200, but it's far easier with a supersonic round. Misreading the wind by 2mph and your results will be fucked at that range with a 14.5".
dreauxmire Wow ask for sugar nothing but 🍋

7.62stu Mark what is your experience on barrel life of 6CM vs 243 or even 22-250?
  -  laruetactical @7.62stu ... My experience is I stand at the end of the barrel shop and catch the next one that falls off the end of the line 😎 2 likes
  -  7.62stu @laruetactical fair enough, I should of asked about throat erosion, accuracy degradation, but as a fellow boomer I accept your answer haha.
