... A perfect opportunity to make a point. Y'all have been seeing me shoot bunches of half inch groups. Now looking at Brian Litz's chart, we multiply 0.500" x 1.58 = 0.790". Well dang, as usual Litz is right, meaning shooting my rifles 5 or 10 shot groups instead of 3-shot groups, only leaves unshot-at crows and groundhogs whoopin' it up out there. 😎 ML

  -  laruetactical @groeneveldmtb ... Don't shoot fast. If you're shooting movers you'll be hard pressed to convince me you missed a running target due to heat-induced poor accuracy. 😂 2 likes
idiot_engineer_ Oh that's me! I'll give that book a read. I do like the larger data set, but given that you have hundreds of rifles with similar accuracy, shows y'all have your stuff on target. 2 likes
drfrenchjr I'm a little confused.. not an engineer. Are saying a .79 5-10 shot group is bad or good? Asking for a friend.
  -  laruetactical @drfrenchjr ... Neither. I'm pointing out that in my rifles, you can expect Brian Litz's multiplier chart to hold true. 1 like

zap_rowsdower_mk.ii It probably took you longer to formulate this argument than to just shoot a 10 shot group. Post one and see if your formula correlates.
  -  zap_rowsdower_mk.ii @zap_rowsdower_mk.ii Nvm I saw your previous post

mike_ostlund I'm going to measure 5 groups of 5 next time I hit the range. 16" Larue 5.56 upper on a Larue billet lower with MBT 2S flat trigger
advancedshootinganalytics What's the rationale for that calculation? It's gotta be just purely shooter error? Is it limited to some class of gun? This has not been my experience with precision bolt actions and doesn't make a lot of sense. Look - I'm a white towel recipient (thanks ML) but I don't shoot the LaRues much, especially for groups. They're the Gucci safe queens. When I have shot them there have been dead pigs at the other end.
  -  laruetactical @advancedshootinganalytics ... Brian Litz's book is called "Applied Ballistics For Long-Range Shooting" 1 like
  -  advancedshootinganalytics @laruetactical is there any explanation for the scale factor values? Is it a Gaussian thing? Litz's experiences? The guy knows a lot about shooting no question, but two significant digits?!
  -  laruetactical @advancedshootinganalytics ... You need to study deep into Litz' background
mag.dump.media Will I be able to get my hands on one of these factory FDE guns, or I'm a stuck with rattle can tan?
dj_robey @laruetactical ML, what text does this chart come from? Looks like some good reading!
  -  laruetactical @dj_robey ... It's in the first or second edition of Brian Litz's Blue Book of Accuracy 3 likes
