... Knowing I'm a bit rusty on what to expect out of my Double-Ought Buck gun, I drug it out of the truck for it's annual. So much for that WhizBang rust-proof coating years ago that was supposed to let me hide it in the creek and come pull it out years later and fill my bag with green heads ... note the rust 😳 To function test the 870's mechanicals, I completely emptied it first, by shucking all the shells out of it. ✅ Then I placed an empty TV box against a brush pile, taped a blue workshop paper towel on it, paced off 15 yards, then loaded one of the 3" 00 Mags, put center of the bead in the middle of the blue paper towel and slowly squeezed the trigger until she touched off. 💥 WOW, forget about a quick follow-on shot. Kicked like a mule !! 💥💥 For your edification, 8 pellets hit the paper towel and 5 pellets were a little high/left, but close. I will now know what to expect if by chance I roll up on a police officer under fire. On a side note, bought that TV at Costco. It was cheap $250, and the only model they had that would hook up to those old DVD players that have the Red/white/yellow cord pack. If you have a pile of DVDs in the attic and the DVD player, grab one of those TVs at Costco's and tell Skynet to do something Rated R to themselves 😎 ML

  -  laruetactical @jdg0707 ... Krylon cans are like an 88mm cannon shell. I can barely get those 3" 12 gauge shells in my 870 🤷 5 likes
legionpreparedness Holy cow that looks like WW1 vintage 😮 1 like
  -  laruetactical @legionpreparedness ... The shotgun shells ... or the shotgun ... or both ?
sean3686 Is it really an 870 if it doesn't have rust? 5 likes
shopmonkeyactual NP3 and done
ryandconner This is why all my 870s are ceracoted
  -  shopmonkeyactual @ryandconner 😂😂😂
todd_t1 Big A sells a converter that can handle your ole school (aka RCA plug) and make that plug work w any TV. Ya need a RCA to HDMI (AV to HDMI) Converter. Cost ya about same as couple gallons of diesel would in the sunshine state. 1 like
juan.venado1911 That patina costs more in an antique shop...
johnnywayne3 Whew would hate to be that bad guy
will_r_dean Yikes! That looks rough. What kind of lube did you use? My go to has always been Remoil, but I'm not sure if it would hold up in the environment you store the 870.
jake4869 I'll drop some good shells by the shop! 15 yards will be 9/9.
mister_t_34 Federal flight control is the way to go. Keeps OO Buck on a bad guy out to 25 yrds pretty easily. 3 likes

sir_wyatt_of_carlsbad I've had really bad luck with Remington parkerized finish and I clean and oil my guns after use.
chuckvlasek That fake parkerizing Remington uses is about worthless. You look at those guns funny and they will rust.
starkcontrazt On the topic of rusty guns...I'd like to know how a spoon can spend 50% of its life submerged in water but a gun that's well oiled and kept in a safe with humidity control will seem to begin to rust the moment it leaves
  -  davidmaraspini @starkcontrazt Spoons are made out of zinc or stainless.
  -  laruetactical @starkcontrazt ... "Spoons and forks are so last century. Those flatware people need to update their offerings" - said every ARFcommer
cj_kelly Mine sits in a safe. Rust found it.
danielcauthen Should be able to clean that up...doesn't look too horrible...
duckhnt @laruetactical I'm sure those Texas POPOs appreciate your support down there. I bet the first question you would get asked after an above described fire fight would be: Mark LaRue with no AR!? 1 like

  -  duckhnt @laruetactical meh.... I'll allow it.
todd.ritz @laruetactical How about a 2.75" pattern @ 15yds? https://www.hornadyle.com/shotgun-ammunition/12-ga-tap-light-magnum#!/ Federal's "flight control" wads, as others have said, offer similarly tight patters.
  -  laruetactical @todd.ritz ... I sorta like the "shotgun" effect it did ... that performs it's own autopsy 😎
el_blanco_jorge Drop it by @capitolarmory we can cerakote it for you 🤷👌🙌🍩 1 like
jeff_vandewater @laruetactical as mentioned above, try Federal Tactical 8 pellet LE13300 with their Flight Control wad. Just ask if you need a couple boxes sent your way!
