... Public Service Announcement - Pilot friend was in Europe 6 months (or so). Came back to his diesel truck in the garage and it wasn't right. Dropped DEF tank twice to clean it, rinse it out ... still no good. Limped into dealer and old DEF had gummed up the works 😳 ... oh, and there seems to be a DEF shortage showing it's ugly head. mr.mercury24 I work at Advance, I'm sitting here looking at 21 jugs right now. I get more every week. I don't see much sign of a shortage.

highbrow_666 Bargain DEF is no bargain. Either delete it or pay the $$ for name brand. Walmart garbage froze in the tank and cracked it. Cheap turned into a $400 fix. 1 like

- bwestlake78 @highbrow_666 200k between 2 trucks, never bought the good stuff unless i had no choice. I've replaced 3 def tanks, but never because of the fluid. Gm builds the sensors and elements into the tank. $35 sensor goes bad= $1500 repair because you cant replace just the sensor... And good luck deleting a new Duramax for less than $5k. They've made it damn near impossible.

- bwestlake78 @highbrow_666 it's been the heating element burned out for me every time. I'd love nothing more than to delete it, but I still haven't covered the cost to delete if you add them all up. I've never really looked into impurities,etc because its a necessary evil for me. I don't want to use it in the first place, I'm sure not going to shop around for the most expensive brand. I trade trucks every 2 or 3 years anyway, so I buy the cheap shit and go on with my life. If I actually intend to keep one long term, I may spend the extra, but most likely delete it as soon as the budget allows anyway.
