... Damn. Our Customs & Border Protection Siete submission from a couple weeks back got shot out of the proverbial water 😳 The 308 barrels couldn't shoot their Glass & Barrier Penetrating Hornady 168g TAP ammo under a minute. We only had 72 hours from the moment we heard about the solicitation to having to load it into the Navion and fly it, and all the hastily made owner manuals, to El Paso. We didn't have any of the 308TAP, so I proof-grouped both 308 barrels with 175g Federal Gold Medal Match and both barrels shot fine, so we loaded up and took off. 🤷 Since hearing the bad news, we acquired some of said 308TAP ammo and I just shot this test with it being 100 degrees outside using a 17" 308 Siete barrel. The 175gFGMM shot exactly 1/2 the size of the 308TAP ... exactly half. 308TAP = 1.700" average / 175gFGMM = 0.850" avg. I'm okay with it as I have released the quick-change accuracy Kraken into their midst. 😎 ML

billbarrett8857 Are you sure they werent shooting 165 TAP Barrier? Very different projectile than their 168 TAP Precision. I was never able to find a precision gun that liked their TAP Barrier round.

alan.dillon.gb I don't shoot ELD anything in .30. At least the 178 and 168gr. It always shoots poorly. IDK what it is. Their 6.5 is great, but .30? Nope👎

hksniper11b They need to be shooting Hornady TAP ELD AR 168gr, not TAP ELD Precision 168gr. This isn't an issue with your guns or barrels. The "Precision" ammo is not powdered for gas guns and is simply wild (check my past targets) with a short barrel (under 20"). Go test fire the "AR" ammo instead, and watch the drastic difference. Further, solicit and tell their LE Dept to switch to the TAP ELD AR ammo, and they'll see superior shot groups even compared to the FGGM 175gr. 2 likes

kodiak_precision I've shot that same TAP load out of other rifles. I was unimpressed with it groupings as well. Bolt gun and semi auto. 1 like
