... Years ago, I landed for fuel in Cleveland, Texas. Normal untowered field (with brand new black top). An older gentleman came out of the FBO to check on me and reached his hand out and touches my Navion's wing and holds it there. He says "Son, these Navions are the only civilian aircraft certified for carrier landings." He goes on to say he flew many a Navion mission hauling mail out to our U.S. Aircraft Carriers in the Gulf of Mexico. The thing about Navions is you gotta limit yourself on ground time during refueling stops, or you'll inevitably lose an hour talking. Fly safe and remember, always land into the wind ... slow as possible. ML ( http://www.navion.com/history.html )

mcgrubbs "Limit your ground time..." That's an apt descriptor of you. 1 like
spiffav8 @outlawphotoguy55 Did you know that? 🤷
  -  outlawphotoguy55 @spiffav8 yep. Most of the early ones went straight to military. The old Governor what's-his-name in UT had one. There's a couple in San Marcos also.
  -  spiffav8 @outlawphotoguy55 Wild. I had no idea. Kinda cool though.

bad_rockets We use to do traffic patterns in apaches there. Also, I'm pretty sure I could stick a king air on a carrier. Lol. 1 like

bigrobeg I have a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 it's not an original one from the 60's or whatever it's one of the newer "Indian" repop ones, it's a 2003. I always used to get stopped by older guys at the gas station thinking it's old and they try to guess what year it is. As fun as it was I'd rather be riding. So I now refuel with gas cans at my house as much as possible to avoid that situation.
  -  tonymarazzo @bigrobeg That's funny! Same thing for Urals, especially of you paint it right! Lol 1 like
