... These Sunnen hones are the bomb. Using "tenth" gage pins, the machinist ascertains the exact reamed hole size on the barrel blank and tells the Sunnen what it is. The Sunnen says "Okay, got it, now slap that bad boy in here" ... then the Sunnen carefully sneaks it's hone stones out until it engages the reamed hole (you can hear it start chirping), then tells itself where it is, and proceeds to hone to the diameter it was told to hone to - amazing 💪 ML

armorer1911 Wire EDM makes less sense, that is until I first witnessed the EDM process at a large firearms manufacturer. So, this machine uses great precision to find the lead and then basically forces the Hone in place. Sound correct? 🔫

- armorer1911 @laruetactical So I would just guess that the Honing process is more of a final finish applied to an existing hole? Where is the Wire EDM drills? It's just such a nice finish on EDM from what I have seen. I think of it as a two in one process. Does that make any sense. I would love to see this Honing process.
