... Same MRGG-A, with mil's 6.5 Creedmoor 140 gr Bergers load 🤷 360 yards. Using Todd Hodnett's "Subtract 2" rule of thumb hold-over formula, 360 yards - 2 = 160 = 1.6 mil holdover. If I didn't lose count, the pulled-off-street random geezer hit the LaRue target 10 times in a row at 360 yards with the 14.5" MRGG-A topped with 2.5-8 Leupold Mk4 scope. So watch this video 10 times in a row for effect. ML

  -  laruetactical @timsulli58 ... Given the skills level of your average shooter, it's hard to guarantee 1 MOA 🤷

cupcakesmooches Such a cool life
danielsinnhuber What's this wrap on the can? Thx
  -  texannebraskan @danielsinnhuber it is just the LaRue silencer
danielsinnhuber Beautiful
nateschauermann I went to the Texas Ranger museum in Waco with my family today and saw a 2011 "Larue 308 Ranger Rifle". It was cool to see. Nice job! 5 likes

j_frank24_ How far out does that work? 1 like
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... The Hodnett "Minus 2" Formula ? Here's from Todd when I asked same question while in the mountains ....
    "200- .5
    300-1
    400- 2
    500-3
    600- 4
Basically you can subtract 2 from the range
    440 is 2.4
Doesn't work past 700 or 800. But your higher density altitude and yards makes it work farther out" 9 likes
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical I've just run it out to 900 for my rifle. It's danger close out to 750. Beyond 750 you've got to add .2 through 1100. 2 likes
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... Us geezers can't see that far. 😂 2 likes

  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... Did you get on a Kestrel to test the Hodnett formula ?
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical Not on a kestrel but I compared the data on both the Hornady & AB solver apps. To 650 it works well with my load. After 650 if I add .2 mils to the solution it works to 900. 745 = 5.5 +.2 = 5.7mils. At 900 it starts to open up.
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... Thanks. That MR/T has 5 mils of holdover available, which gets me out to 700 yards with the Formula, which is a stretch for these old eyes, so in a way, it's perfect.
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical It meets the qualification for danger close. A fella could easily ring a full IPSC at 1000 with it in a pinch.
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... I'm glad Hodnett came up with his awesomely cool formula, now even I too can shoot distance 💪 1 like
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical He seems to have a knack for that sort of thing.
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... Do that exercise again comparing "yards" method to "meters" method.
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical A quick glance and it still falls off around 650.
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... yards or meters ?
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical Meters, it widens out quicker with meters.
  -  laruetactical @j_frank24_ ... Thanks, I like shooting yards ... 'cause it's a longer shot 😎
  -  j_frank24_ @laruetactical I've just spent the last few years learning yards, not enough brain power to be able to switch and still convert RVR. 😂
eadie.steve I may have to switch over to mil. So at 1,000 it is 5 mil? Too easy... 1 like
  -  laruetactical @eadie.steve ... It's as easy as flying single engine aeroplanes that took off with one engine on board. 🎯 1 like

laruetactical ... Well, well, well ... we blundered into the rangefinder and turns out the LaRue target was sitting exactly 400 yards from the picnic table 👀 Geezers doin' geezer stuff 🤷 1 like
